Close to the well-known town of Merzouga and the oasis village of Hassilabied is Erg Chebbi. These magnificent golden red sand dunes cover an area of up to 30 kilometres from north to south and up to 8 kilometres from east to west and reach a height of 150 metres.
They are the highest soft sand dunes in Morocco and are a magnetic draw for adventure seekers, romantics and nature lovers, for individuals, families and groups.

You can stay for a night or several, enjoy the ambience and peace, soak up the sun and immerse yourself in the culture and hospitality. Perhaps you would like to spend a week or two exploring the area, or walk with the nomads and discover their lifestyle.

There are mines, geological and archaeological wonders to explore, myriads of ancient fossils and minerals abundant in this once submerged ocean. Now it is a sea of sand, undulating dunes shifting in the desert winds, always moving and changing in colours and shapes.
